reflect.

This is my Final Reflection. An introspection into my own portfolio that you have been looking through on this site, as well as a look into my reflection on Hutchins altogether. Four poems for four years, though not directly related to each individual year.

reflect.

Darkness fades into the subtlest of dawns,

From new light comes abundant perception.

As the colors grow, fear cannot hold on

for the gray clouds hold the misconception

that true learning is not a marathon.

Pinks and purples give way for reception

of the blue sky as I wake with a yawn.

Sunrise shows where I need introspection.

Years go by and the sun has travelled far.

Far, far across stars it comes back to blue,

and completes the journey different than

before. Flashing green to mark where the scar

lights up the sky and turns to look at you.

Seared with sunset colors in my lifespan.

Scratch that, I know nothing. Try again?

It is okay, you can try again. No need to cry.

See? You learn, you write, you learn more. It’s not an if, but a when.

Challenge your views, then and only then

can you hope to fly.

Scratch that, I know nothing. Try again?

How do you do it, how do you embody being zen

Well, you stop and check if you’re being a wise guy.

See? You learn, you write, you learn more. It’s not an if, but a when.

Don’t be wise, be smart. Write it with a pen.

Don’t erase, rewrite. You’ll learn that by and by

Scratch that, I know nothing. Try again?

I don’t need to be mother hen

In fact, I can simply learn to retry

See? You learn, you write, you learn more. It’s not an if, but a when.

I am worth more than one word, I am worth ten

Yes! You can learn and grow all around without having to vilify.

Scratch that, I know nothing. Try again?

See? You learn, you write, you learn more. It’s not an if, but a when.

I tried, I rewrote and now I explore.

Seeing who I am amidst the grand scheme

of things will indeed be a lifelong chore,

one I am willing to do as I dream.

Voyaging along the winding mountain

road I see the trees swaying in the breeze.

A path leads to waves below, count me in.

Caution signs without any guarantees

for a safe passage, yet on I trek.

The waft of ocean spray, sea grass, and sun

makes me pause and reflect for just a sec

on all I have accomplished and done.

Through my friends, my colleagues, and my teachers

Hutchins taught me about wonderful and strange creatures.
